Enough: The Architecture of Degrowth

Enough: The Architecture of Degrowth
Our transdisciplinary Architecture and Engineering arm Interrobang is lead curator of the seventh Oslo Architecture Triennale (OAT) - the Nordic region’s biggest architecture festival.
Opening tonight, OAT 2019 will explore the architecture of degrowth with over 100 events in the city of Oslo. The festival challenges the supremacy of economic growth as the basis of contemporary societies, arguing our current practice is driving climate breakdown and producing ecologically toxic architecture.
Largely young, interdisciplinary teams from around the world have contributed to the diverse festival programme, investigating the ‘architecture of a radically transformed society in which cultural and ecological flourishing matter more than economic growth’.
Circular Economy principles have been applied to the design and construction of the main venue ‘The Library’, in the National Museum. Reusing timber from Snøhetta's previous exhibition, this process seeks to design out superfluous materials, eliminate waste & minimise embodied carbon.
Curators: Maria Smith, Matthew Dalziel, Phineas Harper, Cecilie Sachs Olsen
